A Scottish sky on the wall: Wallmotion in the Balbirnie House gallery
A 2024 restoration: Muraspec panoramic wallcovering recoloured to the Fife sky gave the Georgian hotel’s ceremony hall depth.
The brief
Balbirnie House is a Georgian mansion in Fife, a hotel since 1989 and one of Scotland’s leading wedding venues. Its Long Gallery with ornate ceilings is the signature room. The 2024 restoration had to refresh it without losing its historic character.
The solution
The key material was Muraspec Wallmotion Abstract LTD02110, which Muraspec’s bespoke team recoloured in the tones of a Scottish sky. The trompe-l’oeil effect adds depth, and the room reads differently by day and by night. The commercial-grade construction is built for heavy use.
A carpet inspired by the estate’s historic park, new furniture and a lighting scheme completed the space.
Takeaways for your project
- Panoramic wallcovering opens up a long hall without structural changes.
- Recolouring a design for your property is a standard Muraspec service.
- For ballrooms and galleries specify commercial-grade coverings that withstand crowds and cleaning.
