Rosewood Munich: a mixer assembled from three AXOR collections

How Tara Bernerd & Partners got a bespoke fitting design for 74 marble bathrooms without manufacturing from scratch.

The brief

Rosewood Munich occupies two historic buildings in Munich’s Old Town — the former headquarters of the Bavarian State Bank and the Palais Neuhaus-Preysing. Tara Bernerd & Partners reinterpreted the baroque in a contemporary language, and a standard catalogue mixer did not fit: the fittings had to look like part of the architecture.

The solution

Through the AXOR Signature service the mixer was assembled from three lines by the same designer: the curved spout of AXOR Citterio M, the cross handles of AXOR Citterio E and the escutcheons of AXOR Citterio. Temperature markings moved to the centre of the handles. Some pieces were finished in Brushed Gold Optic and Brushed Bronze under AXOR FinishPlus.

The green-tiled spa combines AXOR Starck, AXOR ShowerSolutions and AXOR Citterio E in Brushed Gold Optic, while the Bar Montez washrooms use a minimal AXOR Uno in Brushed Bronze.

Takeaways for your project

  • A bespoke mixer does not have to be made from scratch: combining serial elements of one system gives a unique look and keeps the manufacturer’s service and spare parts.
  • One warm metal finish (gold, bronze) ties rooms, spa and public areas together.
  • Different zones can use different collections while keeping one metal tone.

AXOR Citterio, Citterio M, Citterio E, Uno and Starck are in the Domus Regia catalogue — we will specify fittings for your room count.
