Material of the month: Muraspec Anafi acoustic wallcovering

Wallcovering that tames echo: what Anafi is, where it helps and how it works in Hotel Jerbourg’s corridors and reception.

What it is

Anafi is a Muraspec decorative foamed vinyl on a polyester backing, printed with water-based inks. Unlike ordinary wallcovering it absorbs sound (αw = 0.15) and is rated Euroclass C-s3,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A, so it suits hotels, restaurants, offices and clinics where reverberation matters.

A real project: Hotel Jerbourg, Guernsey

The sea-view hotel chose Anafi for its public areas on a Muraspec specialist’s advice. Grey BM-61527627 covers the reception, corridors and staircase, a neutral backdrop for the owner’s vivid paintings.

Where to use it

  • Corridors and staircases — long, lively spaces where acoustics are felt at once.
  • Reception and lobby — less echo from voices and footsteps.
  • Meeting rooms and restaurants — easier conversation at neighbouring tables.

Choosing a colour

Anafi has around twenty plain shades, from warm beiges to deep graphite. For corridors with art choose neutral greys and beiges; for restaurants, richer colours that work with the lighting.

All Anafi colours are in the Domus Regia catalogue; samples are available on request.
